Clare Tran Burnett

Founder & Clinician

Born in Vietnam and raised in the Bay Area in California I was definitely a third culture kid! In early 2006, my husband was again stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Although we have moved numerous times due to his military career, North Carolina has been our home for the last eight years. We have a wonderfully diverse culture here and I have the opportunity to interact with so many different people in all walks of life, especially in my telemental health practice. Although my career started in the legal profession as a paralegal, I have also been an exceptional children’s teacher and yoga instructor. I finally decided to go back to my true passion, which is mental wellbeing. Being a counselor has been one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done. It has given me so much joy to meet new clients and continue with them throughout their self-empowerment and healing journeys. I work with teenagers, individuals, and couples to improve their lives and live to their fullest potential. My experience with the military has also been extremely helpful when working with soldiers and/or their families.  We live in a complex world that is constantly changing and challenging, even as we grapple with our own problems. We can often feel alone and judged and may not have the experience of empathy, compassion, and learned tools to allow us to meet these challenges successfully. Because of this, I collaborate with clients to freely be themselves without fear of judgment and move forward with confidence and a strong sense of self. I offer clients the ability to be honest and open because I understand how difficult that can be and I have been there, too. When we are honest and have trust in ourselves, we can feel empowered to move forward with what we want.  My therapeutic approach is person-centered, but I also utilize a number of modalities because all clients are different and deserve individualized attention and care. I come from a place of non judgment, drawing on my clinical experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and solution-focused work. I work collaboratively with clients to make new insights, explore different perspectives, set goals, and learn and utilize useful life strategies. My clients receive unconditional acceptance and regard in order to feel secure as we work together because no one has to make this life journey without support.
